I like building stuff. I like tinkering and dwelling on details. I like to pursue an idea and follow it through until it is finished, be it a self-made percussion instrument, an elaborate Max/MSP patch, or a soundscape or composition that needs finishing. I like art. I like music in various shapes and forms. I like whimsical jazz and atonal music. I like ambient and romantic classical music. I like abundance, and I like sobriety. I like performing, too. I like improvising and communicating with fellow musicians and an audience. I like Malian classical music and I like hardcore and industrial. I like theater, and I like theatrics and kitsch on stage. I also like stripping music and performance down to a bare minimum. I like acoustic instruments. I like weird electronic devices. I like electricity. I am grateful to have played with giants such as Toumani Diabaté and Tony Allen. I am grateful to play with my friends and strangers in basements and bars until sunrise. I like difficult things that seem simple, and I like simple ideas that appear sophisticated. I like the feeling that, through all of it, I am only just beginning, again and again.
